PaleBlue has developed VR-based moonwalk training.
Virtual Reality technologies open a new range of possibilities. This applies especially to familiarization and planning, since experiencing an environment through VR helps to build experience prior to operations.
Virtual Reality is done using head-mounted VR goggles. These have two displays inside, creating a live stereo video for the eyes.
The goggles track head movement and rotation, so the viewer feels immersed in the environment. PaleBlue uses 3D sound environments and sound landscapes to intensify the presence effect.
For interacting with the environment, hand controllers and palm and finger tracking are used. That makes it possible to touch and interact with the virtual objects around.
